FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there an office I can visit?
This is a traveling NY notary and apostille service (with a drop-off location set up for New York apostille service only). A NYC notary can meet you at your Manhattan home, office, local cafe or any other convenient location.

What is a mobile notary public?
A mobile notary is just like any regular notary public except that a New York City notary travels to your Manhattan location to notarize your documents. In addition to the $2 fee allowed by law for each notarization, mobile notaries in NY are permitted to charge a travel fee. Mobile notaries are, typically, much more knowledgeable about how to properly notarize a document since notaries who notarize on a part-time basis usually have minimal notary public training and experience.

Can you notarize a document written in a foreign language?
Yes, as long as we can communicate with the signer directly in English and the signer signs in English. We will need to add English notary wording if it's not included in the document.

How do I notarize or certify a copy of my passport, driver's license or other ID?
New York notaries have no authority to compare an original and a copy of such a document or to notarize a document that does not contain a statement from the signer and an original signature under that statement. What we can do in these types of cases is notarize a statement written or typed on the copy that says you "attest that the attached is a photocopy." This is the way it is handled in New York. You can check with the person or organization receiving your documents whether this alternate format will be acceptable.

What is an "apostille"?
An "apostille" is a form of authentication issued by the NY Secretary of State that is attached to foreign-bound documents for use by countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. For more details on how we can help you with this process, click on the "apostille" link in the upper left corner of this page or click here.

Do you notarize on weekends?
Yes, we provide New York notary and apostille services on weekends (both Saturday and Sunday)...and even most holidays. The New York County and State offices are not open on weekends for NY apostille service, but we can get things started by meeting with you during the weekend.
